Craig Paton

 

Band Leader/Caller/Manager

 

The Craig Paton Band was formed seven years ago to compete at the All Scotland Accordion Championships Band Competition and came out in 1st place.

 

Craig who has performed on a global scale studied at the national specialist music school in Aberdeen performs at 1st Diploma level. At the age of 15 years old, he recorded his first CD ‘Moving Forward’ at Castlesound Studios. The CD was his first business venture and was released in April 2009.

 

Craig has represented the World Burns Federation to attend and perform at the official launch of the Royal Mint Burns Coin and the Royal Mail Burns Stamp Collection in London. During his visit I was invited to No. 10 Downing Street where he met The Prime Minister at the time, Gordon Brown and The Chancellor, Alistair Darling. The visit coincided with the inauguration of President Barrack Obama.

 

In recent years Craig and the band have recorded three broadcasts for BBC Radio Scotland including the Live Take the Floor Broadcast for Celtic Connections in February 2014. This recording resulted in the band being nominated at the Scots Trad Music Awards for Scottish Dance Band of the Year.

Fiddler/Caller/DJ/Teacher

 

Originally from Aberdeen, he began playing the violin at the age of 5.

 

Classically trained throughout his schooling he went on to study the violin and violin teaching gaining a DIP.MUS.T (ICMA Governed) Award.

 

He has played in many various orchestras from Aberdeen to London and numerous Strathspey and Reel societies as well as Scottish Dance Bands.

 

Andy is a lively performer and dance caller with a wealth of experience, a superb young musician with a great future in front of him.
